Bert is an all-round media expert with deep roots in journalism. He is currently the Coordinator and Lecturer of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the School of Journalism, part of the Institute of Media at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. With extensive experience in the fast-moving arena where content, technology, and business converge, Bert wants to guide the next generation of media professionals.

Initiated the project to introduce generative AI to both students and staff of Utrecht University of Applied Sciences by creating a co-creating task force of teachers and students. This task force created training courses that leverage generative AI for education, opening the way for a qualitative leap forward in education and business alike.

After finishing the bachelor study Media & Entertainmentmanagement I worked for more than 10 years as eventmanager (BNN), editorial executive for tv/radio and director for tv-shows and documentaries (MTV Networks). I really love being creative and to work with a team.

I always liked to work with interns and to help them to grow as a person and professional. When I was asked to develop a studies for Eventorganisator at ROC TOP, I didn’t hesitate. With pleasure and creativity I developed the study from scratch together with a team. From the beginning I had ideas to do things differently. With great pleasure, energy and drive I started to introduce changes in the curriculum of the study and from there on for the organisation as a whole. It resulted in me taking on different roles as Project Leader, Product Owner of our DLO (digital learning enviroment) and as an advisor/consultant.

I’m a very motivated and creative person with a lot of experience in both the public sector as the commercial sector. I have vast knowledge of projectmanagement, producing content for web, radio and broadcast. As an organizer, I like to focus on the final result, while considering the important aspects in the process and in a way that everybody can find common ground and pleasure in working together. With a strong visual eye, I keep a close eye on the details even if there are issues that might arise during work and other times when you can get busy.
